Eldritch Battery lets your POE 3.29 trap setup spend energy shield before mana, but sustained throwing still depends on recovery keeping up with skill costs. That's why your POE currency budget should cover resource sustain before extra damage links. You're fixing the ability to keep attacking, not just making room for more auras.

When should you switch to Eldritch Battery in POE 3.29

Make the switch around level 24 when Discipline, Bated Breath, and Eldritch Battery are ready together. Before that, keep Clarity at gem level 2 or 3.

The campaign skill route starts with Explosive Trap, moves to Lightning Trap at its level 12 milestone, and reaches Ice Trap from level 28. Those are minimum skill levels, so your first character may obtain the gems later. The resource change comes before Ice Trap, giving you a chance to check sustain while you're still using Lightning Trap.

At the transition, remove the early mana-focused auras and run Grace with Discipline. Check that both activate successfully before committing the rest of your setup.

Your attribute plan matters here too: the campaign targets 130 or more intelligence for Discipline and Flame Dash, alongside 130 or more dexterity for Grace. Strength also needs attention for Steelskin, with a target of 130 or more. An equipment replacement that breaks those requirements can interrupt the setup even when its damage stats look better.

How much recovery does Ice Trap need in POE 3.29

The campaign planning targets are at least 100 energy shield recovered per second for a five-link and approximately 150 for a six-link, calculated around Ice Trap gem level 15. Treat those numbers as checkpoints for that setup, not universal requirements for every gem level and support combination. Complete link combinations aren't specified, so you'll need to check your actual skill cost after each change.

A bigger energy shield pool gives you more room to spend, but it doesn't prove that repeated throws are sustainable. Watch the pool while attacking continuously, then repeat the check with your movement and boss utility skills in use. A setup that only feels comfortable between packs hasn't answered the harder question of sustained boss damage.

Once sustain works, mana flasks can leave the campaign arrangement. Full mana reservation is possible, but the keystone alone doesn't establish that your character can keep throwing.

Tabula Rasa deserves a resource check before you fill all six sockets. It supplies six-link access without defensive stats, while the extra supports increase resource demands. A functioning five-link is the better practical choice when the sixth support leaves you waiting to attack.

What should you check before swapping Bated Breath for Sunblast

Check sustain again after the belt swap, because Sunblast serves a different campaign role. It's reserved for major bosses, while Bated Breath supports regular resource recovery.

The boss procedure removes Multiple Traps Support and replaces it with a damage support, using Sunblast for additional trap output with delayed explosions. That delay is especially relevant against stationary targets. Check the belt and gem changes together, since you're changing both how damage arrives and the resources needed to deliver it.

Keep resistances, life, and attributes ahead of optional damage upgrades on your rare equipment. Evasion and spell suppression still need attention because allocating Eldritch Battery isn't a replacement for the campaign's defensive layers. Through the level 68 pre-Kitava checkpoint and level 70 tree plan, judge upgrades by whether they preserve your whole setup.

Before your next purchase, check continuous throwing, aura activation, and the Sunblast boss swap on your character. Then use Path of exile currency options to plan the specific equipment gap within your budget, keeping reliable sustain ahead of another damage link.
