Flashpoint doesn't hand out the Dolabra Shotgun blueprint for free, and that's exactly why so many players are obsessed with it. If you've been digging through ARC Raiders Items and trying to work out what's actually worth the grind, this one keeps coming up for a reason. You won't pull the schematic from basic crates, and regular enemies won't drop it either. The only real route is the Close Scrutiny map condition, which means you need the event to be live before the hunt even starts. That alone slows people down, because you can't just queue whenever you feel like it and expect progress.
How the blueprint hunt really works
Once Close Scrutiny is active, the next step is simple on paper and rough in practice. Load into a raid and look for the ARC Assessor dropship. It's easy to spot thanks to that huge red beam stabbing into the sky. Getting to it is another story. The area around the ship is packed with dangerous ARC units, and they don't mess around. You'll usually run into several Vaporizers and Surveyors, sometimes at the worst possible moment, when your squad's already low on ammo or split up. You can't force your way to the loot too early either. The interior stays locked until the defending waves are cleared, so there's no sneaky shortcut here. You have to win the fight first, then earn the chance to start looting.
Why it takes more runs than people expect
After the ship opens, you still aren't guaranteed the reward you came for. Inside the ARC Assessor, you'll breach sealed compartments one by one, and the Dolabra blueprint sits in a shared loot pool with other rare ARC materials. That's the bit that catches people out. A lot of players assume one successful run should be enough, then they leave disappointed. In reality, it often takes repeated clears before the right drop appears. Around ten to twelve successful breaches seems pretty normal from what players are reporting. So if you don't get it early, that's not bad luck in some wild sense. That's just how the grind is built. Best thing you can do is go in prepared, keep your clears clean, and avoid wasting raids through rushed pushes.
What makes the Dolabra worth all that effort
The reason people stick with the grind is simple: the weapon is genuinely strong. Once you extract the blueprint and unlock it at the Gunsmith, the Dolabra gives you two solid ways to play. Fired from the hip, it throws out a broad electric spread that's great when enemies close the gap fast and everything gets messy. Aim down sights, though, and it tightens into a focused shot that feels much more controlled. That makes it especially useful against armoured targets, including Vaporizers, which can be a pain with less specialised weapons. It's not just flashy. It fills a real role in combat, and you notice that pretty quickly once you start using it in tougher encounters.
The grind doesn't stop after the blueprint
A lot of players think the hard part ends once the schematic drops, but that's only half true. Crafting the Dolabra asks for mid and high-tier materials, including Shredder Gyros, Magnetic Accelerators, and Vaporizer Regulators. Those regulators can be especially annoying because you need to farm the right enemies under the right conditions, not just wander into any raid and hope for the best. So the whole process turns into a longer project: get the event, clear the Assessor, win the roll, extract safely, then keep farming what you still need. Still, when you finally bring the weapon into a raid alongside other ARC Raiders Moded Weapon setups, it feels earned in a way most unlocks don't. That's why players keep going back for it.
