A quick route across the Paragon Board isn't always the route your build needs. You might reach a glyph socket faster, then realise you've skipped the attributes that make it useful. Whether you're comparing D4 items or adjusting an existing setup, give your point allocation the same attention as your gear. Start by placing a point or two along the branch you actually want. That gives automatic pathing a useful starting direction. Check what it selects, though. A short connection can still leave a rare node you wanted just out of reach.
Find the attributes your glyph needs
Before filling the space around a socket, read the glyph's bonus requirement. It's easy to spend points on nearby tiles simply because they're convenient. That doesn't help much when you're still short of Dexterity or Willpower. Enter the required attribute in the board's search field and use the highlighted nodes to compare your options. Then check which ones fall inside the glyph's radius. That's the part that matters. A matching node elsewhere on the board won't contribute to that local requirement. Aim to meet the threshold without spending extra points on a detour you don't need.
Let the shortcut handle the long stretches
Once you've picked a destination, clicking every connecting tile gets old quickly. On PC, hold Control and click the node you want to reach. With a controller, hold the allocation button shown for that node. If you've got enough unspent points, automatic pathing can fill the connecting route in one action. It's particularly handy for travelling toward an attachment gate or rebuilding a familiar layout. Still, inspect the result around junctions. The tool helps with distance; choosing the attributes and bonuses that suit your character remains your job.
Rotate before you commit
Board orientation deserves a moment before you attach anything. A socket that looks close in one rotation may require several extra travel points in another. Compare the entrance with your main destination, then look at what sits along the way. Sometimes a slightly longer approach offers useful attributes or access to a rare node. Use this quick check while previewing a board.
Locate the glyph socket and your priority legendary node.
Compare the available rotations from the incoming gate.
Keep enough points available for the bonuses around your destination.
Spend points where you'll feel the difference
When you're browsing cheap D4 items and planning your next upgrade, revisit the board too. An equipment change may shift which attributes or bonuses deserve your points. You don't need to rebuild everything each time. Check your glyph requirements, inspect the busiest junctions, and reconsider any travel route that feels expensive. Small adjustments can free points for something useful. Keep the shortcuts for the repetitive stretches and take your time where the route actually affects your build.
